The Gumball Diary (Sunday April 28)

2210 - The Hyatt Regency Tamaya

Again, sorry folks, only one entry today as I spent most of the day driving (I may be talented, but even I can't type and drive at the same time!)

I was amazed to discover that Chris and his cousin, the drivers of a gorgeous Green 1973 Stingray, made it into Dallas last night, despite having some serious mechanical problems about 100 miles outside of Washington that caused them to spend the next eight hours working on their car in temperatures below freezing to get it on the road again. They finally managed to catch up with us despite having missed us at each of the other checkpoints of the day.

Really fun ride this morning from Dallas to the Cadillac Ranch just outside Amarillo - about fifteen cars (a couple of Porsches, the Texas Viper, the black Saleen, the Green Stingray, a Ferarri 550 and F50, and the APR Racing Audi S4 and it's media car. Great driving on the open roads, and parading through the small towns that we passed through on the way - really great to see all the local people coming out, waving, and taking pictures of the cars.

The Cadillac Ranch is slightly bizarre, ten Cadillacs buried in the ground and covered in graffiti, but should be seen by everyone. We were stayed there for about two hours whilst the Texas Viper driver tried to find out what had happen to his brother after he discovered that the car in which he was riding took a trip to a Court House and a jail cell....

A long ride across the desert this afternoon, the truckers loved the fact that we had a 73 Stingray with us and made a point of moving out of the way to let us past!

Great hotel - at least tonight we have two beds in the room and one of us doesn't have to sleep on the sofa like last night!!!
